Go to hell, fate

Sunday, February 26th, 2006

Yesterday’s “highlights” included:

  • My flight being delayed in Dallas
  • Stephie’s car wouldn’t start, so she couldn’t pick me up from the airport
  • American Airlines lost my luggage, and then the employees at the airport were less than pleasant
  • We went gambling, and the idiots at the blackjack table gave me crap for surrendering when I had 16 with the dealer showing a 10 (to which I say "Suck on this, jackass").
  • We tried to call a cab back from the casino and were told that Baton Rouge “isn’t like New York City, where there are subways all night” and that we should try back after 3am if we wanted a cab.
  • I lost my string cheese.

So today I’m buying a 95 cent t-shirt from the secondhand clothing store while I wait for AA to find my luggage. But I worked my magic on the car, and we’re going out for sushi in a few minutes, so it’s hard to be too mad.

Good karma

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006

Just like Earl learned from Carson Daly, good karma is important. Brenda posted this on her LJ, so do something good with your life for once! ;-)

So, if you read this and have the time please look into the information of the Parkinson’s Unity Walk. Then if you have 5 bucks to spare think about giving it over to Parkinson’s research. Below is the link to my donation page as my mother and I are going to be walking this April to support the search for a cure to Parkinson’s Disease.

Spread the word.

My new friend

Tuesday, February 21st, 2006

I made a new friend on my flight from Minneapolis to Denver last night. His name is Christopher, and during takeoff, I lent him my headphones so he could listen to the TV that Frontier has in each seat. He spent much of the flight telling me about his friend Lynn’s horses, Ginger and Ben. In fact, he was so excited to share this with me, he would tap my hand if I started to fall asleep. Then when he was done talking about Ben and Ginger, he’d tell me to go to sleep, only to wake me up again a few seconds later. Near the end of the flight, he eventually fell asleep himself, so when we got to Denver, I helped his dad carry their luggage off the flight while he carried my little friend.

Next time I’m in Denver, I’ll give him a call and we can watch some “Bob Bob” (as he so cleverly called Spongebob Squarepants) and drink some apple juice.

Sequoia High School forfeits basketball season

Saturday, February 4th, 2006

After discovering that two players were ineligible, Sequoia High School has cancelled the remainder of the season, as well as forfeiting all their wins for the past two seasons. When I went to Sequoia, our basketball program… well, sucked. But this is a whole new level of shame for the school. Way to go, Simos. You should be crying.

God and SMS

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006

Just got this text message from someone: “This is a test: if u love GOD and u are not ashamed of all he has done for u, send this to ten people and watch how he repays u?”

First, this causes me to extend my list of things God does not do. The list is now:

  1. Sports
  2. Reality shows
  3. Weather
  4. SMS chain letters

I’m glad we’ve cleared that up. And God? I hope you repay me by giving me the ten cents that message cost me. Thanks.

“It’s funny who you run into at the train station”

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006

I ran into Blake (he lived with Martin, Ed, and me during my second year of college) at the train station today. I’ve probably seen him a handful of times since he moved out, and not at all since we graduated, so he isn’t someone I expected to see. We exchanged contact info and made vague plans to meet up for dinner some night and catch up. It’s always nice to reconnect with people from the past and see how your respective lives have shaken out thus far, so I hope it works out.
